Earth Magic
Another practical form of magic, Earth Magic was written about in some of the earliest texts of the ancients, who extolled the virtues of being able to manipulate the stone and earth out of which they built their cities and monuments. The finest control of this magic lent the ancient craftsmen the skill they needed to create magnificent testaments to their skill-made-immortal in sculptures, monuments, and great buildings.
Earth Magic takes a strong mind and body in order to wield the earth and stone, especially if one is to do so with any significant power and accuracy. Still, many would-be elementalists try to rise to the level of the ancients. The vast majority fail, but those who succeed are very powerful individuals.
- Rock: The person who casts this calls up a fist-sized chunk of rock into their hand, for throwing…or maybe just showing someone a rock… It’s use is up to the person casting the spell.
- Sand Shelter: Allows the caster to create a cave out of sand or dirt, in order to shield themselves from the elements.
- Cleave: The practice of using Earth Magic to cut rock. This is used for the making of either stone tools or carvings, or in its less-refined form of creating blocks or bricks.
- Clump: The opposite of Cleave, Clumping allows the caster to join rock together into larger rock (clumps of rock, if you’re unskilled). Used with Cleave, these skills allow elementalists to craft stone buildings like one would create a sand castle.
- Fracture: Where Cleave is a skill allowing for the carving of rock, Fracture is simply a spell which causes a rock to break or crack. Can be used against buildings made of masonry, boulders blocking a path, or on a mountain pass to block the same path.
- Sand Roads: An old and rare skill, it allows the caster to intuitively know where their destination is, without the aid of maps or technology, even in the deepest desert.
- Fissure: Useful on the battlefield, Fissure allows the caster to open and close a hole at will, swallowing anyone who is not fleet-footed enough to get out of the way.
- Quake: Another skill used on the battlefield. Quake produces a strong, yet localized shaking of the ground.
- Stone Roots: Allows the caster to bond him- or herself to the ground, preventing them from being tripped, knocked down, tackled, etc.
- Stone Blend: This was considered a glamour and not a proper Earth Magic skill until scientific testing proved that the spell indeed manipulated earth. The skill allows the caster to blend in with the surrounding rock or earth by bonding a thin layer of it to the caster, effectively camouflaging them.
