Epic Frontiers gives its players a comprehensive and fun crafting system. Players who craft can advance through the game using the same mechanism as a fighter does, and without a class/level system to get in the way, gone are the days when a crafter is forced to go fight in order to progress.

The crafting system in Epic Frontiers starts with a simple “recipe” system, like many other MMOs. Materials and tools are gathered and placed into the Crafting Panel, and then with the click of a button, the items and tools combine to create an item. But then the system goes two steps further…

The first innovation is the use of a Generic Recipe. Generic Recipes allow players to seek out and use alternate materials for a recipe. Want to make a sword? Only have bronze blades available instead of steel? No problem. Creating a pistol and want to use a special barrel that provides additional range? Knock yourself out. Want to use a banana instead of missiles on your go-cart? Well, that’s going too far… But the Generic Recipes, provided to those who qualify by certain teachers located throughout the game, give players unique flexibility in creating custom objects, and not just the specific items defined by us.

The second innovation goes even further down the road of item customization for those who are looking for deep crafting features. Material Properties, existing in all items and raw materials, enable players to create material alloys, components, and items that have special properties. Lower rates of weapon malfunctions, lighter weight, higher weapon hitpoints, or resistance to certain effects are some of the Material Properties available to players. By obtaining rare and special materials, unique and powerful items and weapons can be crafted by players. Another property, Signature, allows a player to “sign” their creations so that others can know who made the badass weapon they got second-hand from another player.
